Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

A yellow lichen. Never seen before. Only in the mountains?

Yes, I know that.. Lichens seems to have a glimpse of secretness. I love to see them, not only because I know air is less poluted when I see them, but also because of the strange and magnificent colors... like the ones on your picture.

The lichens on rocks and boulders, in my Grandmother's fields, always gave me, as a child, a feeling of great age. Thanks for stirring some old memories. Regards, John.

Very interesting shot here JC...if I didn't read your comments I swear this was an aerial shot from a satellite...but my mind runs away. Our lichens here are quite dull looking grey, not colorful like this one...Thanks for sharing! Aloha!

This beautiful pattern is very interesting to me as yet another of the flora which is happy at the two extremes of habitat and altitude mountain to coastal. Something to puzzle about.
