Description

Selkie Cove "But what fascinated me most were the stories of selkies -- seals who could shed their skins and take human form. "The seas around Orkney and Shetland harbor the shy Selkies or Seal-Faeries (known as the Roane in Ireland). A female Selkie is able to discard her seal skin and come ashore as a beautiful maiden. If a human can capture His skin, the selkie can be forced to become a fine, if wistful, wife. However, should she ever find her skin she immediately returns to the sea, leaving the husband to pine and die. The males raise storms and upturn boats to avenge the indicriminate slaughter of the seals." -- Brian Froud and Alan Lee, "Faeries" Part of my heritage I share with you, the tales of the Selkies. And so the wandering pilgrims journey on... ~~~~~~~~~~~ Terrain, water, atmosphere and surfacing are mine. Terrain was built in WM and resized in TG. Postwork: Stars: glitterato, birds, frame and signature all in PSP9. I have to take a moment to give thanks to all of you who have taken a moment to vote for my images and put them up there with others whose work puts me in awe. Your kind words and gentle proddings (Markal especially) have helped me grow this year in TG... many many thanks... Be well, as always Pat

An excellent dark mood ; the sky is splendid. There's only the shoreline that could be improved.

Pat your skies and water are right on. I would have used a slight more transparency on the water so the light would reflect. All in all excellent effort!!

oh Pat, this is really REALLY breathtaking! I too love the blues you chose, the stars and the water...and the mountainous terrain running into the distance, lighting and clouds are just perfect...I agree with Tiwiwine about the foreground shoreline, maybe the surfaces could be worked on a wee bit more, give it a bit more detail through more surfaces (and maybe a subtle overlay???) since it is up close and viewers are able to see much more detail...you sure are making huge strides Pat, you've come a long way in a relatively short time...awesome work, way to go!!
