Jago heard it first. It was a sliding sound of steel and masonry from across the river. Ganz checked out the unconscious girl, while his son, Jav, reassured the resusatated girl on the hood of the car. The sound became a roar like an avalanche as a huge figure burst through the debris of the collapsed building. The River King arose like the fabled Phoenix from the ashes. He looked different. Jago was awe-struck by the metamorphisis. The River King, instead of being the dark green of moss, was now an irridescent metallic in hue. His scales caught the light of the setting sun, as he savagely shook the ten ton APC from the armored lander. The Armored Lander from flying city 64 was crushed and rended by the River King's earlier collision with it, and by the abandoned building collapsing on it. Jago had hoped that having a sky-scaper falling on the River King, would have killed it. Jago knew he should have known better. The River King gave it one last shake and then flung the ten ton APC, already shaken to bits, a full hundred meters away to crash into a low building in a cloud of concrete dust and debris. The River King then gave out his soul-shaking roar of triumph. It echoed for miles. The creature's eyes scanned his domain for any other challengers to his domain. He slowly folded his wings, then bounded like a giant river otter to the water's edge and unceremoniously disappeared out of sight into the shining green water. Jav gave a little laugh and said with a chuckle, "After that grand enterance, that wasn't much of an exit." Jago shook his head and muttered solemnly, "If you are a hundred feet tall and weigh a couple of hundred tons, and can tear an armored lander to shreds with your bear hands, and shake apart a ten-ton APC with your TEETH--I would say you could make ANY damned exit you wanted!"
