Nestled in the carbon cloud of the nebula Chal, the planet New Dover provided more questions than answers. Like other planets in the Fertile Cluster, New Dover's chalky wastelands hid ancient terra-forming machines of unknown origins. At an excavation site at one on New Dover terra-forming monuments people were missing. Silently without a trace they had vanished in the night. Alien tracks were found in and around the camps. They lead to rock outcroppings near the research site. The outcroppings were littered tunnels, like worm-eaten wood, leading deep under the surface. Patrols scoured the and caves for any trace of the missing. Some of the patrols never returned and eventually the searches were called off until the military could send extra troops. Parameter patrols were increased and extra lighting lit a great radius around the camp at night. People still went missing.
