Description

Some one wish to see the New Years bar-b-que. So here it is. I just bought the triangle grill for my oldest son. But can not get it to him for now. He lives about one and one halve hours. I go up soon. The grill is made for open fire and I live where you can not have open fires so I used charcoal. then metal I use to put the coal on came off a cajun mirowave cooker. It a wooden box with the heavy metal on top and you put the food into the wooden box and charcoals on top of the metal; takes a long time to cook. I had one but the chridren build a fire on top of the cajun cooker and burn the wood. This happen about 12 years ago.[sorry no photos of a cajun mirowave cooker now. When I get one I post it if you like.] Now on the tripod I have hamburges and carrots and a pork tenderloin. In the back you see a real gas pit but I put charcoals in it for no gas and the jets is messed up on it. There I have a big beef briskit[it part of the cow neck with fat on it.] I cooked that for 5 hours and it was good[cut the fat off after it is cookede]. That why I cooked the burgers. The tripod is good for fast cooking but not too good for slow cooking. As far as I know. This is the first time I used it and I will give it to my oldest son soon anyway.

Jeeze, what a set up! Ever do a real fire pit? Whole cow or Hog buried in ground on top of hot coals? That's S-L-O-W cooking.

The "Cajun Microwave" is a good idea (some old Injun and Acadian principles applied) 'ceptin' p'raps for using "treated" deckwood. The "treatment" is arsenic or other very toxic compounds, which stay in the wood for a long time. Sometime you see folks burning treated scrap wood and standing by the fire, inhaling the fumes. Bad idea, man, and dangerous. Nor should treated wood ever be used in interiors. Finally, an idea that started with real tin foil--now done with aluminum: to wit, double seal a nice full supper, including beef and potatoes, chicken, etc, in foil and use tie wire to fasten it under the hood to the car engine on a long trip. Few hours you got a nice hot meal for a picnic stop. Started in the 'Thirties I think, but I am not sure (cf. my image "Spring Picnic").

Now I've never seen a tripod like this either but it seems like a great idea. Haven't seen a cajun microwave either and look forward to it. Sounds like some great food you had going!

He he, down under it's more a fashion to celebrate new year than on the northern hemisphere, I guess... Seems to me it's a great moment to be there with each other around the bbq! :)

Jocko, mmmm it would be worth the drive down your way for a nice BBQ like that! My wife's Dad was a welder (gas lines! -danger!) and he made his own BBQ . Sure makes the food seem better! Happy New Year and make sure you cook the Beef well before you eat it! - Excellent!

Excellent. I love the idea of food as 'satisfacion'. It looks very relaxing and that is why it got my vote.
