Description

Yes, I know I've nutted you all to death with Carrara 5, figured I'd do the first official WIP in Bryce as a tribute to what is, indeed, and always will be, an excellent app. Modelled in Wings, still some things to figure out. And texturing. Comments welcome. Oh, forgot... 2 things. I don't know how many of you have been on an actual sea-going ship with sails, but by default, the skipper's position at the back of the boat. Indeed, there MIGHT be a better view of the horizon ahead, but you have to imagine masts, rigging, people and sails obstructing that. So having a giant boiler instead isn't really that big of a deal. The second thing is that if you ARE a sail ship buff, please don't moan to me about how the rigging and sails are all wrong. I didn't really care. The sails are both wind and sun-powered, and the ship travels through AIR. Yes, air. So THERE! :) That said, Marcfx -I think- said something about turning the cockpit around, I might just do that and see how it looks like :) Thanks again for any comments drac

One suggestion to a master modeler. Pls make a HUGE spinaker type sail that is unfurled when using sun power ( at least 10 times the size of steering sails )

Turning the thing around like you said might be a very inovative idea. As an ex-seaman/sailor it would work for me. Yes, sailing ships had their helm at the stern but they also used lookouts on the mast and bow. Even modern ships like container vessels have problems viewing forward because of the height of the ondeck cargo/containers and of course they use radar to help solve this. Nice model though. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Looks Fantastic to me. You used Wings for this? I must be doing something wrong...

That forward view in the centre shows how sleek it is - boiler and all - very nice modeling whatever you made it in.
