Aside from the Poser 4 figures,this was entirely modelled and rendered in LightWave the grass created with Sasquatch/Lite. All textures were created in PSP 7.The name "Flying Circus" given by the Allies refered to German fighter squadrons as they adopted the habit of painting their aircraft in vibrant colours,usually a specific colour was most prevelent to mark each squadron.Aces (three confirmed kills) enjoyed special status and often further personalized their aircraft.The colours helped spotters on the ground confirm their pilots' kills.As well this helped pilots identify their own quickly.The Albatros dominated the air for a period of time.The focus of this image is the Albatros D V.It is a fairly accurate representation of this famous German aircraft from the First World War (1914-1918). The plane in the foreground is regarded as one of a number of aircraft that Manfred von Richthofen flew in his short but famous career. (He was better known as the *Red Baron*) P.S Richthofen was not the only pilot to paint his aircraft all red (notably his famous Fokker Triplane).There are claims that a few allied pilots adopted this colour too.
