Description

ok i needed a change from modelling tanks, so i went for the only other thing i know... the matrix. Its a recreation of the dojo set from the first film. the falling flower petals were my own strange little addition, (idea came from some old HK film i saw a few years ago). The whole thing was researched, modelled and tetured over a weekend, lighting & render is nothing special (no GI etc), done using maya4s default renderer. the contrast was turned up and grain added in post. I really wish i had the skill to model good characters, id hade loved to have been able to animate a good fight scene with this, alas all my characters look too basic & cartoony to be beleivable. + i know theres a slight screw-up in the render with the falling petals, i accidentaly moved the texture file for the sword holster/case thingys, hence theyre now white. comments welcome...

Great to see this kind of work, and such attention to detail. Even if it is the only other thing you know, you do it most stunningly. The version with the petals is my personal favourite, it adds something mysterious to the image. Excellent work!

Great work. Although its an Interior scene the flower pedals add a nice touch. Great lightfog too.

Very nice environment modeling. Looks like it would make great scenery for some later action shots.

This is really, -really- gorgeous. I'm going to copy the scabbards from the top image to the bottom (luckily, the petals don't touch 'em :-) and use the bottom image for my desktop wallpaper for a while. :-) I followed you here from the Maya forum intro thread... I thought it was so cute, seeing the "last tank" post immediately followed by "help... I'm addicted!" and then several other exquisite... tanks. XD

I can't believe I never commented on this. It took my breath away. I saved it immediately to my special images folder, knowing that I will never, ever do anything this good. Incredible. *****

You may not have the characters down, but the architectural modeling is doing just fine. Both are excellent images. I favor the one with the leaves and bright sword blades.

Fascinating, more astounding, but then if I'm not mistaken, the swords on the two images seem to be different in texture. I quess there was a battle, and then someone cleaned them? Hhaaha. Brillant :D
