The Eden Corporation was responsible for the terraforming of New Campania and suffered the first successful prosecution of a terraforming operation as a result. Eden Corp. vanished into the giant maw of Gilgamesh Enterprises soon afterwards. Ever since, New Campania has been held up in terraformers' training holos as how NOT to do it. Hardly anyone lives there and everyone who does would prefer not to. The amount of vegetation is receding and the atmosphere is seeping away. So what interest have the galaxy's major private armies in what has been described as mankind's biggest sandcastle? Well, before ever the terraformers got to work, New Campania was packed with valuable minerals. Old-fashioned terraforming had only the most basic kind of matter conversion system, which meant that terraforms were no more than skin-deep at best. Those mineral deposits are worth fighting for and will be far harder to extract, once that atmosphere finally disappears.
