Description

My mother-in-law is an avid collector of glass and crystal "things", so this past Christmas I spent alot of time looking for the kind of gift she might treasure. Of all the different kinds of glass sculptures out there... the soft, frosted types were the ones that really caught my eye. So I wanted to attempt to recreate that look in a big, fat Julia fractal. This is as close as I could get to that vision... ;) There is also a semi-precious white stone with these translucently opague characteristics but I can't recall the name of it right now. If anyone knows it, I'd love to be reminded!

UF with border and sig in PSP. Thanks so much for all of your creative feedback on "sssymbolism"... you guys are the best!! lol! And thank you for peeking in at this one. Hugs! Helen :)

Moonstone? Milky Aquamarine? You really captured the effect of translucency. Just lovely.

You've recreated the effect quite well I'd say! I like the dark blue tips especially. I also like that you've increased the impression of glass by surrounding a smooth image with a textured border.

A moonstone is my guess as well. Beautiful glowing work set against the darker background, the pointy parts are really amazing in their clarity and colors. I like the format as well, really nice one!

Exquisitely formed and finished! I love this fragile blow-glass-like spiral with such sweet detail and lovely coloring..and it's framed so tastefully. Beautiful and excellent fractal art.

Looks like that type of glass you are speaking of. I can't recall the name either. Wonderful work.

Helen, Exquisite work! This is so outstanding! I love it! I think redbeard is right. When I saw this, moonstones came to mind because I wear moonstones. Opals are beautiful too, but quite a bit more colorful and vibrant than moonstones, I wear them also! LOL Beautiful fractal as always! Leann

This kind of reminded me of a Fenton art glass piece. This is very lovely! I just love the slight touches of color with the creamy white color. Well done!

I have seen Lalique Chrystal with this texture. Simply gorgeous! But I have to say it reminds me of a succulent plant rather more than glass. The little spikey things add to the illusion. Great Spiral!
