Description

"Snow is water, and ice is water, and water is water, these three are one." --Joseph Dare

...and now back to our regularly scheduled programming. In the conditions I've been shooting these photos, it is actually not very easy to bring out the detail in the ice. It has a very limited tonal range. It's been fun to explore and try to rectify this problem in the final image. ----- Thanks for stopping by and for your explosive comments on my last photo, NYE 2006 Fireworks II.

Yawp, it'd darn difficult to get the bubbles and everything sharp and defined...but it's worth it when you succeed. And this is superb :D

I think you've done a fabulous job here, Kort. Your creativity and the colors used in this series have more than compensated for the limited tonal range of that ice! Well done!

Nicely abstracted, warm colours with the cold ice works very well.

He he, I see you certainly have no blue ice... or would it be heavy ice, D2O LOL! Not easy to shoot this, but you did great, the DOF and contrasts are great, and the reflections add an extra dimension to it! Gorgeous work, Kort! :)

I would also think that these fine textural examples of ice would make good additions to layers of other textures in a multiple exposure type situation, or just interesting patterns to a background of another image. Thank you for sharing. Egmont

I try this myself from time to time and find that bourbon works best to bring out all the subtle details. Now, if I could just remember my camera.... LOL. Love the shot, Kort. It is terrific - I admire your work very much.
