Description

This is one of our friends over at Cane Creek Park. It's a local park thats all man-made, lake and all. Was built for Tn. Tech. students to learn irrigation, etc. and ended up staying for the local community. Works really well when we get a lot of rain. There's a duck feeding area, playgrounds for the kiddies, you can fish from the lake-it's stocked- there's paddle boats in the summer, walking trails, and the trail goes all the way around the lake. (More pics. of that in future days to come). Anyways, this little guy was the only one who would stand close to me and let me take a pic. The rest of them just wanted the bread we brought. But, #R05S also comes to the pond behind our house with his pack 15 miles away. He must "know", ya know? For some reason though, seeing those tags, kind of breaks my heart. Although..... One of controversy things..... Sorry for the rambling. Gets me every time! Hope everyone has a great Sunday. We're going to the park again today! Love and hugs to all, Velvet.

Honestly, I don't know what is driving ducks' fashion sense these days. When I was a duckling we didn't wear these kinds of things!

Don't be too bummed out. They still get to fly where they want and go where they want. They've just got our government keeping track of what they do. I guess it could also be a good thing. That way we know they're not going extinct & all that ya know?!

I'm sorry about the tag,but it's done for a purpose.Interestingly they are like homing pigeons.I live in Toronto Canada, for those who don't know this bird is known as "Canada Geese".A park on Toronto's waterfront called Ontario Place used to be packed with them,so much so as their poop covered every inch of grass and walkways .You couldn't stand anywhere let alone sit. They multiply very fast usually having 3 or 4 chicks. A very cute looking bird can be very aggressive if threatened or enticed by food.Like swans they have very powerful necks.A word to the wise be close at hand if you have a small child feeding them. :B eaver !

This is heart wrenching but it's for a purpose. Not everyone in this world is a caring person. My ex brother in-law once killed and cooked up a male mallard duck. Here's the real reason why it upset me so. We lived right beside a park that had a small wildlife protection area on it. There was a male & female mallard that used to come over to our yard everyday. They had been used to being fed from the people who lived there before us. My daughter was only 3yrs old at the time and she started feeding them the cracked corn that I bought just for them. My bastard brother in-law killed that male duck and cooked him up for his wife one night!!! I turned him into the law for that. So my friends, they also keep track of animals in that way because of people like him. V
