Description

After battling with the particle system over the weekend I have finally finished this piece. The water did eventually use a little Photoshop painting but not a lot - it's still mostly Carrara. I also opted to use many render passes composited in Photoshop to get the lighting just right. Saved a lot time fiddling with the correct levels for lights and global illumination in Carrara and many test renders. Everything except the butterfly (which came with Carrara) was modelled and textured by me. Plug-ins used are DCG AnythingGrows, DCG AnythingGrooves, DCG ShaderOps, ShoeStringShaders Fresnel. Thanks for looking.

An amazing image. Really well done, very realistic. The plants are amazingly realistic for 3d and the water's great. I do think you make it even better though with some more postwork, more definition to the 2 trees in the middle would greatly improve realism. Once again amazing.

It is nice to be able to just browse Carrara and see something so lush. jcv2 was doing some things with falling water that might be relevant. The speed of the water and the speed of the film and shutter for this surging continuum allow some hights to be clear and othres to be blurred. Cascades are even more diverse as the water surges over rocks and makes hummocks and jets. Where there are no photographs or paintings the digital world is richest but hardest to verify.
