Description

Been awhile since I've visited the Mars of the Matronauts and the Martian Exploration Service. Here a MR6 is exploring the Southern polar region during the late Martian spring. It is accompanied by two Mules and that is unusual as an MR6 is usually assigned only one. Martian polar settlements are few and far apart in the southern polar climes; although there are many scattered around the northern ice cap. This is because the northern ice cap is made of mostly water ice, but the sourthern one is mostly frozen carbon dioxide. There is some water ice in the south, but it is far less abundant than in the north. In case of an emergency, it is felt that two mules would greatly increase the success of a crew's return to civilization, should the MR6 become too damaged to be driven. Credits: Background terrain and and textures were created by me from a European Space Agency photograph by the Mars Express. Forground terrain: Actually two terrains the lower one from a NASA photo taken by Spirit Rover and upper the same terrain with a "dusty" snow surface that is about 55% transparent. The MR6 and the two Mules were created by me using Bryce boolean operations. Poser figures are Poser 5 figures. Thanks for dropping by. Helpful or encouraging comments are appreciated. Jeremy

Very nice image. The vehicles look cool too! In order to add realism to the scene I would suggest that you show the tire/wheel tracks on the surface of Mars. Even if we consider that the soil is frozen solid I think that we still should see some kind of marks left by the wheels.

Well, I agree entirely but the problem is that I just don't know how to do that in a way that looks realistic enough. Have the same trouble with boat wakes. Suggestions anyone?

Really excellent attention to detail - great modelling and texturing, one minor absence is tracks in the sand, but part from that this is a simple and really effective piece of work - keep it up!!

The martian landscape looks suprisingly like some of the "Photographs"(??) sent back to earth. Kinda makes one wonder if NASA didn't just use a program like Bryce to fake the whole thing. It is a very good picture. I wasn't trying to take away from your talent. Keep those pictures coming. I am sure NASA could always use your talents LOL.
