Description

Airshow shot circa 1988 of a Texas Air Guard McDonnell-Douglas F-4D Phantom II beginning to climb. The condensation around the plane attests to the humidity of the Gulf Coast.

Very nice capture of atmospheric effects! What kind of a lens--- how BIG was your lens that you were able to catch this image??????

I am a bit charry at looking at air guard Phantom shots after the cries of "You killed my husband." and the more personal on the phone, "You killed my son." At the same time some veterans charged George Bush with being a coward and a shirker for going up in the far less reliable F-102. I am pleased this is not of a QF.

@David - I used my trusty Canon AE1 with a maximum zoom lens of 200 mm. In those days the pilots flew closer and lower to the crowd than they do today. I just timed it right when he made his pass.

Wonderful Humidity shot. Great plane too. Love phantoms - Royal Navy and RAF used them with Rolls Royce Spey Engines. They were slightly more powerful than normal. Carrier use etc. Bigger tailpipe. MORE NOISE!! Tons of smoke. But great plane.Planes in our country HAVE to fly further away from the crowd than ever before. Safety mad Govenment etc.
