Description

"My final morning on Frontier World Twenty-Two. Our work here was done at last and as we broke camp, the calm rolling of the surf was split suddenly by a sonic boom, the decelleration of our ship's gig after reentry. Within moments, it was silently gliding down to rest. In less than an hour, we would get back on board and return to orbit. I shall miss this world. Should I return here again in the future, these hillsides will no doubt be dotted with the dwellings of its new inhabitants. It is bittersweet to ponder the loss of this pristine place, yet there is in me something that envies those settlers, for they will have the good fortune to see this sun rise every day of their lives." Wonderful Carl. It is hard to say goodbye to a place when we know that if we return, we will find it changed from the way we had left it. Thanks for the healthy dose of sci-fi and beauty this AM!

What inspires an artist? In this particular case, it was a 'Eureka!' moment shortly after midnight one morning, followed by about four hours of feverish work. By 4:30am, the results which you see here had been achieved. At the time, I was still less than satisfied, but at some point one stops and says to oneself, anything more would be excessive...
