Description
How she must have cried, begging someone to save her, to love her and sustain her. How she must have wept as the heavy body of the man of the house used her tiny one for things he shouldn't have. How she must have sobbed as the woman who bore her hurt her even worse by letting things happen and then hitting her as well.
Tied to a chair, beaten, used, starved for food and love, she died never knowing what safety was, what being a happy little girl was. She was only 36 pounds...seven years old and only 36 pounds. How she must have hurt, how she must have wondered why, what did she do to deserve their abuse.
I wish for them all they did to her ten fold...for all time. To suffer as that tiny little girl did until all that is ends. Sweet Nixmary Brown is gone, safe at last from the hell she lived in, free from their torture. I weep for her and for all the Nixmary Browns out there still living in pain and fear. Rest well little one, and I pray that your next life is one of love and peace.

How very sad this is, sadder still is the knowledge that even since Little Lisa Steinberg this abuse rages on. You spoke quite eloquently of a heart wrenching condition that ones soul should never have to know.

How I wish I didn't have to.

Sadly, methinks the oft-repeated saying, "Our children are our most importance resource" is given only lip service, at best. SIGH. Brilliant piece!!

Everyone failed this sweet baby. :( Your words made me cry, as did her MURDER. NIXZMARY BROWN'S DEATH WHAT WENT WRONG The city Administration for Children's Services had at least six chances to save 7-year-old Nixzmary Brown's life: MAY 16: A guidance counselor at Public School 256 reports Nixzmary is bruised and has missed 46 days of school. ACS says it never got report of abuse, but checks into truancy. When Nixzmary's mom says she will get her kids back to school, ACS believes her. ACS also buys the family cribs and other furniture but fails to stay in regular touch with them and simply closes the case. JUNE 28: School counselor faxes case questionnaire to ACS, saying Nixzmary is underweight. But ACS says it cannot find the fax. DEC. 1: School social worker calls state child abuse hotline to report Nixzmary has black eye and possible sexual abuse. Nixzmary's father gives ACS caseworker purported hospital paperwork. ACS talks to doctor on phone, but never takes the girl to the hospital. ACS concludes Nixzmary is not at imminent risk. DEC. 8: ACS visits Nixzmary's apartment, but stepfather Cesar Rodriguez won't let them inside. He says they'll be available the next day. ACS calls four times the next day, gets no answer and does nothing further. DEC. 23: After getting another call from PS 256, an ACS caseworker visits apartment again but no one answers the door. Caseworker and supervisors discuss getting a warrant to get inside the home but never do. JAN. 5: ACS again tries visiting Nixzmary at home but can't get inside. Six days later, her beaten corpse is found, face-up, on a bedroom floor. [from New York Daily News]

I cried so hard writing about her. I want her so-called parents to spend all time being used and abused as she was but ten fold worse. I want them to scream for help and none never come. I want those that KNEW she was in trouble to suffer, to pay for enabling her abuse!! May they all never know another nanosecond's worth of peace!
