Here's a sword I've been working on for the past week. Trying my hands at Lightwave's realism. Do hope you enjoy and thanks for viewing.

looks loike you got a good handle on the realism! 2 crits. The lighting seems to be a tad soft for teh nature of your subject (yeah, this is just a personal judgement not that it's wrong) The seecond in the blade. It looks like a white blade. try upping the reflection, make teh blade grey and lower the difuss to around 30ish. See if that helps. anyhow, nice render

Can't put my finger on it, but the sword somehow looks like a plastic toy model. Perhaps it's only the surface settings and the lighting, but I'd think that it might actually have to do with the way the model is constructed. Pommel and crosspiece as a single unimesh is probably what makes it look like molded plastic. I humbly recommend building it in pieces similarly to how a real sword might be constructed. Just a suggestion.

Nice work. Agree with a few other comments, maybe make the surface the sword is resting on a little darker to try and increase the contrast between them, to help make the sword itself stand out a bit more.
