Description

One of the first shots taken with my brand new Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Still getting the hang of it, this shot was taken at 6:40 PM in my bedroom with ISO 50, +2/3 Exp, -1.3 flash. Obviously black and white, I liked it that way. Comments, what the hell am I doing, etc, are welcome :)

Good use of DOF to push focus onto the flame. That's one low ISO (I'm guessing it was automatic?), but seems to work fine. The large dark "thing" to the right may be a bit too far into the frame, but works well with DOF. The reflection works well too. You might try taking one without the flash and longer exposure to see what you get. Overall, I like it. Nice start.

Outstanding DOF shot, I agree with Phil on trying a "no flash". (interested in the results)

Nice DOF, not sure about the comps and POV ad framing. Enjoy using the cam!

Beautiful capture, love the effect but I would have cropped out the dark blurred part! Wonderful tones!
