I have always liked 'llIustration' and tend to produce it either as Cover Art or Sequential imagery. The former is probably the more challenging because of the balance that needs to be struck between form and content, decoration and narrative. Cover Art, like the short story, gets a limited shot at indicating what lies beneath the cover. My current preoccupation has been described, and I think aptly, as 'nostalgic sci fi and pulp'. And someone also suggested that it might be a little too late to revive the 'adventure genre'.
Stylistically, I'm keen on the commercial illustration of the mid 20th Century that was made to promote 'mass' publication (especially children's annuals, pulp magazines and comics). There is so much creativity and artistic competence to found on the covers and within the pages of even the most mundane examples.
It is over the last 7 years that I have started to use, and like, digital media. My working methods are still a little too intuitive and involve the usual squinting and standing back that one associates with traditional media, but I am enjoying making imagery more than ever and would now like to explore the possibilities of illustrating written stories (preferably by working with an author).
Interests: Commercial illustration and sequential imagery of the mid 20th Century that was made to promote 'mass' publications (especially children's annuals, pulp magazines and comics).

The story and the cute little robots fit so well. Its such an interesting concept, that one day may come to pass. Where now us humans study and create robots, maybe there will be a time when they study us. Good lighting regarding the image.

Story always makes such a difference. Such a great little snippet to pick and illustrate. "Hydrolic assisted eyes" seems to come from a time when hydrolics was the answer to everything. Had the author any knowledge of thermographics perhaps they would have changed the wording. Nice work as always.

Hydro eyes didn't bother me, it read like a pulp piece. And looking at the aged pages that's my guess. I think this is an excellent example of illustration. The page design fits the story. Look at the way the light sets the robots apart from the main action but keeps them in the scene. They become the actors and the narrators all at once. It gets a vote from me because it is one of the most original examples of poser use I have seen recently. Much better than the usual Nekkid Vicky with a sword/gun/spandex/dragon/high heels/blown up miniskirt/underwear/another nekid Vicky. Excellent! :)

Aliens R us ;) You did it again, once again a great take on the clash of alien civilisations theme! If a certain deal of historical inaccuracy wasn't part and parcel to Pulp Fiction, I might nitpick on the fact that those "Huron" leggings look too high reaching for woodland indians and that the rifles look like shipped over from a hundred years in the future, but that's just right here ;) Very nice also your variation on the leitmotif of the "Aliens" always being the better trackers than the Indians. I am expecting a follow-up now where the Aliens find the inevitable mocassin (Indians habitually loose mocassins while sneaking through the forests) which will lead them on the trail once again ;)

Great story-mix of metal men and Hurons. Your art is a masterpiece as always!!!! Inspired by your art, on the last weeks I've produced many "Pulp" artworks. I've just posted a "fake" Amazing Stories cover... :)
