Description
These are redpolls. perhaps you've heard of them.
every year at about this time, these little sparrow-like birds (they are not, however similar, sparrows!) swamp our house here in maine as they come down from canada to escape the cold. one time a couple years ago, we had 122 birds in all, feeding on seeds on our lawn!
I shot this this morning when they had clustered on the feeder. there were also an innumerable amount on the ground.
thank you for your comments on yesterday's image. no power outage today!
comments welcome.
also: the males have rosy chests.
and, i'm sorry i didnt open the window. (notice the glare?) they're very flighty birds, so i didn't want to scare them.

Couldn't figure out what these were from the thumbnail. I learned what a redpoll looks like now. Handsome little dudes and dudettes. Popular and busy place obviously. A little bit of window glare there but overall it turned out to be a great shot!

Nice - reminds me of the gloomy future we Terrans are facing because of the massive overpopulation.
