Could be drivein speakers or clear plastic raygun squirt guns. The ridged bodywork looks familiar and dates the piece in the 50's.

Just realized, this looks a lot like an old Black Sabbath cover 'Techical Ecstacy'... I think it was done by Hipgnosis... talk about your subliminal inspiration....
