Description
Another shot from the Heidelberg Castle. This is not the typical view like it can be seen often on tourist postcards, which you can buy here everywhere. The broken tower you can see there was destroyed in the 18th century by the french troups. It was the "stock" with a lot of gunpowder. In german it's name is "Pulver-Turm". A gigantic explosion broke it in two parts. Thanks for your interest.

Very interesting and sad shot in the same time. It's a pity to see this castle with his broken tower ! So many incredible constructions has been destroyed during the wars... and a part of our past with them. But it's important to never forgot... and it's a beautiful place. Thank you Ana for this one ! IIRC the walls at this point (must be the bottom layer) are about 18' thick. It must have been SOME explosion to just not expend its energy upwards.
