Entering the Kitchens, the half-day mealtime had already passed, leaving it clean, tidy and empty for Hano's pleasure. He was hungry and wanted something to eat before addressing his family issues. Relatively relaxed, he went to one of the huge store larders for a bite to eat. Opening the heavy wooden door, the aroma of freshly baked quaner from that morning greeted him. Grabbing one, some fruit and a lump of dried datter-milk, he turned back towards one of the large stone tables to sit down, but stopped. Aware that he was not alone, he looked at the unexpected stranger sitting across the kitchen and gulped. Keen, narrow eyes stared back, watching his every move.
