Description

Been raining pretty consistently here, so not much time to go out and shoot. While doing my laundry today I stepped out into the yard to shoot my Obake Anthirum. To me it's just another flower growing in my yard. After reading a little about them on the internet, I've come to realize how expensive these flowers are! 6 of these in a small flower arrangement sent to you via airmail will run you from $60-80 American! For something that I don't even take care of in my yard that's still quite steep~ This is just one of the varieties of this species. Obake anthuriums are flowers of Royalty. These anthuriums come in combinations of colors and are larger than the usual flowers. Obake (o-BAH-kay) means "ghost" in Japanese, alluding to this group's nebulous, two-tone coloration and incomparable individual variation. They usually exhibit a bicolor pattern of green and a major spathe color. Some varieties lose their green in the summer, creating a solid-colored spathe. Spathe size varies greatly, from 3" x 21/2" mini to 11" x 9" exhibition varieties. Thanks for dropping in and having a look...have a great Sun. everyone! Aloha!

I guess I am the same..to me they just grow in the yard. I don't even know the names. But do enjoy taking pictures of them. Maybe you should set up a shopping cart and get sending them around. Probably grow pretty fast there. Of course this photo is as exceptional, as expected from you Dave.

Beautiful, sometimes we just walk right by something so common to us, and yet a treasure to others!!!! I do remember when I visited Maui, the flowers you could by at the corner market for $8.00 dollars were just stunning and quite a huge bunch too. That same arrangement in Seattle would cost you $150.00 or more easily... new business venture Dave?????

Thanks for the Ghostly info. Maybe I can 'scare' me up some cash and go get one too! Do I hear an idea for a sideline business here? Dave's Tropical Plants and Flower arrangements? Lovely shot with the shiny greens and reds!
