Description

Another repost coming over from my discontinued KnightFriends gallery. --------------------------- An angry soul now deeply yearns
for goodly peace that all now burns
and casts her gaze on he who spurns
the worth of all her kin.
Too many souls have lost their lives,
torn from this world before their time!
So draws she now the final line
just as the seer penned:

"Under a velvet sky of light,
laced with gold in a sapphire bright,
a single arrow will there take flight,
from a steady heart and hand.
A golden fletch through an Iron crown,
a crimson river on blackened ground
begats the final battle sounds
and brings peace to the land."

Tortured pitch is the howling wail
and rage does drive with thundering gale
up where this enemy must be veiled,
but no foe can be seen.
The keep of time within its den,
devoid of sun declines to spin
the noble tale of who here has been,
who robbed them of their king.

Then a silent hush falls on the trees
as darkness falls and all is sheathed
and in each blackened heart is breathed
the whisper "I should rule!"
Ten thousand clashing thunders roar!
Ten thousand casks of blood are pored
by mace and axe and tempered sword,
such is the end of fools.

Then the land their own hands set afire
provides for them a funeral pire
consuming all in ashen spires,
their fate so long foretold.
While under stars of sacred skies
one pair of ears, one pair of eyes
does hear the fading, wailing cries
and the cleansing end behold.

At last the windows of her soul
break loose the flood she long did hold.
and deep she grieves for her warrior bold
who against this foe did fall.
When upon the cliff, as her bow did bend,
so sure she was, she too they'd rend,
but the dawn reveals a different end...
one arrow felled them all!
