Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Nice... the grain really works on this shot -- the eggs look like you can see the texture on them (or maybe you can?). Excellent.

Works beautifully for me.I happen to love grainy B/W images in certain circumstances and this is one of them...it gives it a homespun simplicity that fits so well.A real winner of an image,Jodie.-M :^)

In going back through your gallery, I chose this because it seemed 'different', another side to your eye and soul...this has a touch of the great Depression Era photographs from the Farm Security Administration, where all these wonderful photographers went out through the U.S. and caught pieces of our heritage that are as eloquent as any that have been put on film. (The Library of Congress Online is loaded with them.) The grain of course helps create that feel; but much more so your bold straight-forward composition, almost with the secure feel of a long-created painting: the broad use of a single-direction of light; your simple (but eloquent) shadows; the 3 tones of white/gray/black in the bowl (simple, but eloquent); and the flare from the bowl, which I guess is you, because of your eye for transcendent, spiritual light in everything. It's simple but articulate. And though a 'different' image---at least from what I've seen so far---it's you to the core. I love your eye, and it's always a pleasure to see it in new settings...
