I like ambiguity in art. Uncertainty. What has to conform to the limits of our reality? Metal, glass and flesh can merge seamlessly, as if the surreal worlds and the life forms within are one and the same, and yet at odds sometimes. I rarely seek to endow my works with any "message". I am more interested in people's personal responses.
I'm a multimedia artist working in fine art (including sculpture), digital art, graphic design and various forms inbetween, also illustrating book covers and numerous CD covers. I also work in musical soundscaping, both solo and in group projects, of which there are many releases. I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone here who has supported me in my work and beyond since I began posting in June 2001. Too many to mention, you all know who you are... I'm meeting very special people here :-)
Update 01-08-05: I've been given a 4 page feature article in Issue 3 of the new media magazine Contour based in Atlanta, Georgia. The images printed very well and they did me proud.
Update 21-03-06: I've been spending the last 6 months living in New South Wales, Australia. Inspiring place! Also in the process of illustrating the book covers for a series of Japanese books called Hikishio no Toki (Time of the Ebb Tide) by Mayumura Taku - to date I've completed the first two of the five volumes. I've recently been returning to traditional media as well as producing the usual digital art, and contributed a sculptural canvas to a recent local exhibition. Link: Saatchi Gallery webspace
Update 09-01-21: I hadn't even logged in for some years. It's weird nipping back here after not even posting for 13 years, like revisiting your old school incognito. As I'm not active here anymore I wonder if anyone will even see this again besides me.

I'd have to say this image is much more intresting than the older version. First of all there is more stuff to look at but its not cluttered or anything. Its got a really good composition for your eyes to move around in. Especially think it was a good idea to crop out more of the dark area in the lower left corner(seemed sorta like a less intresting area) The typography is pretty :)

This redo places all the emphasis on the typography and design supporting it in my mind. I prefer the orginal, but this is nice too. In this one the image seems less important and carries less feeling for me. I guess the purpose of the graphic would determine which is used.

The typography is certainly more interesting in this one, but I do prefer the original, like claridad said. This seems to take away a little from the soft and caressing feel the previous version had. But then again, it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish with this image! Top work nonetheless, my compliments!

I prefer the first one too, even if I like this. I see more to emotional impact than typogaphy. maybe that's why.

Always a pleasure & an inspiration to see your typography Jim! I really like the understated effect in the previous version but if I have to choose this one works better for me, it appears to have lost nothing of the emotion to me but gained a lot with a much more engaging design. Great work on both of them imo! ; )

Studying both versions I'm hard pressed to say which I like best. Perhaps the first, as it was hard to improve on its stylish simplicity. For me the difficult part is the small font. I don't know about you, but I always have difficulty choosing fonts. I should really invest in some new ones. So a cool, unusual font would doubtless improve this pic of yours and give it a sense of style the photo deserves. Alternatively, writing it yourself might be worth trying ;-) What do you think, Jim?
Synapse
Maybe, but I do like it the way it is :-) The small font in question is Orator, for which I've been a sucker for a few years now. It's so clean and simple but more stylish/contemporary (IMHO) than fonts like Arial/Helvetica/Swiss. It's funny how I tend to keep coming back to these simple but stylish fonts. In a setting like this I don't think they should be too intrusive. Depends on the context and aesthetic of course ;-) The large script font is Porcelain by the way ;-)

I think I like this one better....awesome work !

I like this a lot! Glowing synapse-design! And I like the typography a lot too1 One little thing... I'd left the "caress" on the upper rght corner as it was in the previous picture. I liked it, and I think it'd be fine here too. want to see more of these! :-)

It radiates warmth and loving comfort to me. Thanks
