Welcome to my Renderosity homepage!
I've has led an interesting life as a Gen X-er, comics creator, graduate student, white collar professional, and political activist, and I'm exploring it head on in my autobiographical comic strip MISFIT'S JOURNEY. BIOThe first installment of MJ has attracted the attention of webcomics guru Scott McCloud (who mentioned it in his blog) and webcomics critic/creator Joe Zabel (who is known for his collaborations with AMERICAN SPLENDOR writer Harvey Pekar and for his 3d comics work).
The art for MISFITS JOURNEY will be of interest to many people because it was done using a combination of digital photography and midrange 3d art applications such as Poser, Bryce, Carrara, and Shade.
I'm always interested in getting thoughts and feedback on MJ, so, if you're interested in my artwork, please read the first installment and let me know what you think of it.
Currently, my gallery here is comprised entirely of images from the first episode, but I may create some pieces specifically for this gallery in the future.

Hey, I saw a prohibited bicycle on the sidewalk!!! Isn't the lady in the middle a bit too shiny compared to the rest, or is she the misfit? Anyway, great and interesting scene you put up here! I do find it a little puzzling that there are no evident shadows on the sidewalk, as there are shadows on the people.

I'm guessing this is a composite scene, hence the lack of shadows under the people. Gotta say though, I like how you populated your street. The people each have a bit of personality and the street itself has some too with the graffiti and grime. Nice.

Thanks for the compliments. This picture is a scene from an online autobiographical comic strip that takes place in Seattle in '89. You could indeed see flamboyant women with shiny clothing in some areas of town. The misfit is the guy with the blond hair and glasses -- ME. This is indeed a composite scene, but I had actually generated shadows for the ground. I decided against using them because I didn't like the way they looked. The picture looks a little different in the online comic because lots of lettering appears on the page. The lack of shadows doesn't bother me as much with all the lettering on the page. I'll continue to experiment with shadows in future pieces and will probably do a better job with them in the future. The guy biking on the sidewalk may have gotten busted. :)
