I can hear the roar of their engines swooping down on fields then quickly increase their height to make a quick turn and all over again. very interesting subject. I enjoy watching the crop duster dare devils

I miss seeing these flying over the sugar cane fields. Like the sugar cane trucks, these served their purpose during our sugar boom in Hawaii. Sad to see it wind up like this...nice find! Aloha!

It is an Emroth Emair MA-1B bi-plane. Looked up the registration in the NTSB database and it was blown off the runway at Pahala and down an embankment Dec 5,1995. It also listed 3 other accidents of this type one fatal when a wing seperated in 1985.

Old? It was built in 1978, the year I graduated from high school. I remember Marsh Aviation got one in 1977 and they still have it going, they've switched out the original R1820 (1200hp derated to 900hp) for one of 1475hp. These were built out of Stearman parts so parts of them are old, I guess.

When I first moved here, I used to see them crop dusting in the area. Where is this, old airport? Didn't think they still had these relics laying around.

Stella...Yes, the planes are located at the old airport. This particular plane was damaged as mentioned by vkoontz. There are older planes that were kept in good conditons at least for a while (Murray). They may have it in the Hanger. Peter..as far as the choppers, there are civilian and military choppers that usually park there....not sure which one on this particular day. Aloha

My husband would have loved this shot. He loved airplanes. My son has his pilot's license and at least my husband got to go flying 5 times with him before he died. Everytime a airplane goes overhead I say my husband is flying it.
