[Canon EOS 3000N 80-200mm on Kodak200 - manual exposure on daylight; selective coloring made in PS]
I would've posted as a sepia portrait that I like as much as this one,
but the initial idea was to achieve a character from "Dune" even if she's not a queen.
I wanted a simple, but powerfull character. tell me what you think if you have time. yours, mihai.

very well done portrait...! i definitely like what i see - okay, the selective toning could be a tad more desaturated i.m.h.o. the pic itself's good... what i don't like that much is the ratio between skin and cloth... i guess there's an overweight of cloth here... some more visible parts of the face would've been good. have you tried to just leave the eye-line visible?!? covering above and below - but with both eyes visible? just a suggestion...
Mikan
@cbender - well, christian, your suggestions are great, but I didn't want to have an arabic-look-like portrait; that is another project! :) mihai

Ooh ooh ooh brilliant!!!I love it!!!!I don't know if you intended the eye to look other-worldly...I don't think I would have exaggerated the iris so...but if you were looking for an alien/unnatural look than you have definately succeeded!Magnificent work!!!!-M...PS I edited, because I want to make sure you know that I think this is absolutely fabulous. The crop,detail,tone...all are pure perfection. :^)

I'm joining Christian to some extent: more skin (f.i. of the nose) would be fine; the vertical orientation is also fine; less brown to emphasize the blue would be better...

Very mysterious and impressive photo!!!!!!!!!!Gorgeous!!!Bravo!V:DDD

Gorgeous...i love it
Mikan
@Margana - I didn't do any postwork on iris or the color of it; @gwfa - I didn't intend to show anything else but the eye! and about the tones - I usually prefer hard tones although I could post the other variant I have: everything's desaturated and the iris is colored. mihai

What a show stopper!!!!!!!!! I remember that movie when it first came out. Sting was something else. You did a fantastic job in making her a DUNE person. I really really like this. Way cool!!!!!

I love it very good portrait

This is one great portrait! I like how you have presented this with the duller-orange brown which is pretty mucy a complimentary color to the blueness of that eye to make it stand out. The eye draws one's eye (no pun intended) to it- which is an element of a great photo. This is why I like your works.. they're different & shows the creativity!

To be able to comment this photo I have to concentrate and get over the first impression! It's a very powerful image![stiu ca asta te si intereseaza de fapt]It's really amazing! Remembers me of the desert!
lahavana
by far your best! :) iar faptul ca ai lasat doar un ochi vizibil, zic eu ca doar adauga al expresivitatea imaginii. no, not a queen - rather like the sturdy determination in a Fremen's eye, or the knowing gaze of a Bene Gesserit sister :) excellent portrait!
maggiemai
Wow... fantastic! She could definitely be right from the movie "Dune!" I love the two tones... the blue and that beautiful rippling brown. The ripples of the cloth brings sand dunes to mind as well. Very creative and excellent photo Mihai! :-) V

This gets better the more you look at it. Brave cropping. Love the alien effect.

seems like the blue saturation does not distract from the otherwise plain sepia feel. lovely!

Very impressive work. Great photo work. I like your pics.Bravo,

Really nice effect. I like the capture of Arrakis...Dune...the great desert planet; there's a tiny difference, though, but that's not important enough to mention. If you attempted to capture a Fremen maiden, but to use a contemporary human model, then you already know what that tiny distinction is...but anyway, enough of that. I really like this image. It works on so many different levels. As a stand-alone photo, it's brilliant. As a photograph that makes reference to one of my favorite science fiction novels/series of novels, it works even better. I understand some of your artistic choices, in light of...well...in light of Dune, and it's clear from that desaturated, nearly sepia coloration, that this Fremen maiden is wearing spice-fiber; I'll bet, if I were to talk to her (we'll just pretend I speak the zensunni language the Fremen speak,) I'd catch the tangy-cinnamon scent of spice clinging to her. Your photograph is effective enough to convey that, to conjure that in the mind of someone who has read the Dune series over and over again, and having said that, I'll also say, feel free to post an image of a Bene Gesseritt "witch" if you feel so inclined. I'd love to see that! This is a brilliant piece of work, and it's a wonderful introduction (for me) to your gallery.
