" People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them." -James Baldwin

You've gotta love the tropics. Good thing these don't grow too big... ;^] ----- * Nepenthes-Tropical Pitcher Plants, Monkey Cups * Species: Nepenthes Fusca (Triplett clone)- A fine terrarium grower with long cylindrical pitchers in a variety of colors. The lid on mature plants is small and triangular. Prefers cool nights but is quite tolerant. Nepenthes are native primarily to the Malaysian region, India and Australia. They form wonderful hanging pitchers that are sure to attract attention. Some are vines while others form rosettes. Most make two or more types of pitchers:lower pitchers are often more rotund and arise from stems closer to the ground, upper pitchers are often more slender, small and arise from climbing stems which are farther from the roots. Upper pitchers usually have a tendril that wraps around branches, etc. before forming the pitcher; this is one way Nepenthes can climb into/above surrounding vegetation. ----- Thanks for your chilly comments on my last upload, The Ice Queen

Did I comission this!?!? It's perfect! I love the use of DOF, keeps the focus on the pitcher. The seemingly desaturated hues are perfectly tapered off outward from the pitcher!! The perfect amount of contrast, again varies from the target outward...Superb!! Vote

Looks like some sort of pitcher plant...man that's strange looking, but you did it justice with this capture! I wonder if it's carnivorous? Nice lighting and color on this one Bradda! Aloha!

That curled up petal is so realistic looking for a photo that it seems one could just touch it.Very nice on shadows. The colours and detail are brilliant. Did Marlene just get back from a rodeo?

Fortunately the men of Isaac Asimov's Fantastic Voyage did not end up here, the digestion system is ingenious and effective! Fantastic work, Kort, love to see those special plants providing themselves with nutrients in an original way! :)

Beautiful flowers. WOW. Gorgeous exotic beauties. You are right. Gotta love the tropics. Some of the most incredible plants come from there. Being in the tropics is a glorious experience visually. One of my favorites. Superb shot hon. Just love it. Hugssss

Is this one of the carnivorous plant varieties? Seems similar to a pitcher plant or venus flytrap. Regardless, it's a cool capture. Always a great pleasure to see what you'll shoot next!
