Cool character, I remember the old days of Champions and Villains and Vigilanties... man those were some fun times:)

How about a flame on the outside of the arms? Maybe a belt too.

Yes, I want to put flames on the arms, but that is where I run into the most trouble. Either the flame is too thick and you don't see any red or it is so small it looks stupid. I can't seem to get the right look there. No one has asked yet, but the sunglasses are because this characters personality is very flambouant (sp?) kind of like the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movie. She loves that she has powers and is not entirely sure she wants to have a secret identity.

Most effective super hero suit design! Perhaps you could find a seam guide for the suit or the body mesh. Getting trim textures mapped around bodies is quite a task, shoulders and forearms seems to be the most troublesome areas. Great idea for the character design!

I think the flames look allright. Once you have the logo in there it will balance out the costume. If you are still unsure you can try experimenting with ambient colours and values. And if you have p5 or higher you can check RDNA freebie shaders for inspiration.

Its not bad. I might suggest a gradient on texture where the flames are. It will break up the seperation and make it look more like the flames on a car or think hotwheels. It's easy to do and creates a nice effect. Also I agree with others on the flame idea. Adding the special effects to the pic will help, and adding the logo to her outfit. You're on the right track - I love doing superhero textures, and I think you're doing well.
