Description
In 1939 Russia and Japan clashed in Mongolia. There is little documentation on this clash but it had some of the largest air battles of the war. After this the Russians started to supply China with aircraft. The tank is the BT-7 which was used in that clash.
I wanted a break from all the organic modeling I was doing and found the 3/4 finished model on my drive and decided to finish it. I than added my I -15 which I made back in November and made a scene. I used volumetric shader for the grass I have that shader and did a lot ot work to it to get it to look as good as it does here. BT-7 Tank and I-15 plane modeled in Wings 3D. Rendered in Bryce.

A little known conflict with huge consequences: it stopped Japan from attacking Russia in the East, freeing up troops for the Russian counter-offensives of 1941.

Some more from your army of models I see :) Great combination of shedding some light on historical facts as well as doing a good composition.

Nice Dann-O. The BT-7 was a pretty neat tank for its time. Completely outclassed in WWII. But by then the Russians had the T-34. You need to do the next "scene" Show the BT-7s firing at some Japanese armor!
intro
I heard that both sides placed infantry in the lead of tanks to trigger mines. An economic move,no doubt. The mentality of war. Great image, and the tank is fab. Do you thinkas I do, that the mountains in the back should have some scrub vegetation on them, or are we too far north?

The BT7's look great.....the Russians sure handed a severe beating to the Japanese at the battle of Kalkin Ghol....the Japanese stayed well away from Russia in WW2.
