Description

Nothing much to say about this, other than I felt like trying to make a stoney river landscape like this. Complicated terrain & ecosystem work. Vue5I render, all objects made by me: Onyxtree for the trees, Bantam3D "Grass" for the grass AND the stones & pebbles (brilliant little freeware program!). The river water is made from a terrain with a custom made "ripples" bitmap function applied (not just bumps) and a sligthly colourized default water material. Photoshop for colour/levels correction, framing and signature. Some 400 mio. polys, rendered in 2.5 hrs, "Superior" settings with Global Ambience. Hope you like this, comments etc. always more than welcome. Have a nice day - Lars

Wonderful landscape, I like the river and the pebbles specially, maybe the mountains in the background could be better,

Looks super - although actually the rocks in the river look slightly off to me... somehow too similar to each other. I don't know if it's the texture or the "just off ovoid" shape that they all have (even the ones which have been smashed) but they LOOK placed in the scene to me where the rest of the scene "feels" more natural.

Everything is so perfect. THe work you did on the water using a terrain and custom bumps is really cool and is incredibly real looking. The foliage work is just perfect but if I may draw one negative observation from this gorgeous work and that is the background snow covered mountains--they look cartoonish and IMHO dont fit the realistic looking nature of the rest of the image. But what do I know. This work however has really established you as a master of VUE.

As always your image leaves me nearly speechless. I can't believe those rocks are from Bantam's grass prog. You surely know how to create a 'place' I want to be. :)
