Description

"A man enters a barbershop for a shave. While the barber is foaming him up, he mentions the problems he has getting a close shave around the cheeks. "I have just the thing," says the barber, taking a small wooden ball from a nearby drawer. "Just place this between your cheek and gum." The man places the ball in his mouth and the barber proceeds with the closest shave the man has ever experienced. After a few strokes the client asks, "What if I swallow it?" "No problem, son," says the barber. "Just bring it back tomorrow like everyone else does.""

I was surprised and quite pleased to learn that my last-minute entry in the "Hometown" photography competition over at Planit 3D won best picture overall! I did not expect to place at all so when I logged in to see the results, imagine my surprise. The judge is a top person in the film industry (having worked on films like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Moulin Rouge, Harry Potter, Tomb Raider and The Mummy), so I am honored he felt my work best exemplified the theme. ----- Thanks for stopping by and for your gracious comments on my last photo, Florida Skies II - The Beacon.

Congratulations Kort!! Well deserved! My wife still goes to salons and pays $40-$50 for a "Style" cut. I go to our corner barber shop "Buzz's" and pay $15. It's an old fashion barber, like in this wonderful photo of yours, I wouldn't have any other way! I love your photo, it is so crisp and vibrant! Quintessential Americana! The perspective lines add a wonderful dynamic too! Again, Congratulations!!!

Now that's funny, I don't care who ya are that's funny right there! Lord I apologize, be with the pygmies in New Guinea..Funny stuff Bra and clean shot of your hometown barber...nice to see the ole baber pole instead of Supercuts or some other Big chain...Congrats on your selection for best picture overall, you serve it! Aloha! MAS4EVA!

The raindrop line on the sidewalk seems a shimmer in the sunlight. Sharp light and shade compromised also by the glow of the painted concrete block wall just beyond the bench. Color, reflection, perspective--what the hell else do you want in a pitcher plant? Definitely got "atmosphere", and a little logical play with a barber sign but no sign of the barber (or anyone else). Seems to be a hint of the slightly unhorizontal--Northern Florida, is it? This fella, after Russell, shaves hisself, does he?
