Description

This is version 2.0 This image was handpainted from scratch in Painter 7. It is not a remake of another photo or a touched up one. Painter is just awesome for this kind of work and for 90% of it, that program was used, while Photoshop was used for a little touchup, the text and thumbnail. Comments and suggestions are appreciated and encouraged! Credits: Image digitally painted by ShadowWind

WOW! Drawn from scratch in Painter, that's saying something Shadow, I know people who draw things out on paper, then scan them in and paint the scan. Drawing something from scratch in Painter is no easy task and you've done a beautiful job here, this is really good work. I hope to see more work like this, keep it up! :)

Geeze Shadow. I happen to think its a fantastic portrait. I could tell you exactly who it was even if you didn't have her name up there. Don't let the doomsayers get ya down. I'm sure they have yet to achieve perfection as well!

Saw Jessica Alba downtown and this looks a lot like her. Nicely done!

Those who can't accept negative opinions really can't improve. Sorry to burst your bubble, but didn't you have someone to give you pointers on how to make your drawing of Sarah Michelle Gellar look more like the real person?

The angle of the shoulder shows me her shoulders are hunched a little. Look at the position of the arm. The portion of her neck that would be visible at that angle is, in fact, covered by hair... The only comments I would make is that her earlobes are a little more fleshy than this, and the facial features are -slightly- out of line with the planes of her head. Otherwise, outstanding work!

It is amazing how a bit of work can so change the character of a character. Befor she was a voung innocent little thing and now you have a more mature individual that gives a subtle hint of some inner strength and determination. And the great thing about it, is that for the life of me I can not pin down what change in the image brought this about. Well done.

I am back in order to apologize. I saw this woman on a commercial and her neck DOES hide within the hair. Besides, she has rather pointy ears in real life. Whatever you did to her, (I can't quite tell what) it messed up the nose. It is, however (if memory serves me properly) a better likeness on the whole.

Very nice! My main suggestion is to soften the eyes a bit, to match the rest of her. Other than that, cool!

It looks really good -- would be still nicer in a bit less blurry but thats just personal taste.

I have no idea who she is, but this looks really good. I think this is one of your better portraits. This beats the one you did later where you had to add some depth to it. It seems odd that you 'got worse' if I can say that. Even saying that doesnt translate what I want to convey to you. It is just odd that you would do an incredible piece like this and then you seem to do a piece that is not as good as this one. Looks almost like a photograph that has been altered slightly. Kudos.

I rarely answer comments publicly, but I wanted to say that it's not odd at all. I have far less time to work on images, my health isn't what it used to be, but the biggest thing that you are missing Ryyme is that this picture went through about 8-10 revisions from comments both here and outside Renderosity and new techniques in order to get to where it is today. Again, no photo was doctored, traced over, or painted over at anytime during the process. I don't agree on the others being worse, just a different style, one that fits the time that I can do art...
