Description

T.King(c) Original Artwork 'Darkshore Gate' Poster. Part of my 2006 Art Gallery. Darkshore Gate gives passage to the Ashland's, for those who dare to enter. The ominous fortress is inhabited by giant skeletal creatures known as the Dark Keepers. Guarding the immense gate are Dark Keep Sentries. Covered with spiked onyx plate and draping black silk, and armed with rune etched scythes, they allow only the damned to pass. This image has been reduced from 7000x4000 to 1280x841. I hand-spline everything from the ground up with 3D Studio Max, UVW map everything with hand-painted composite textures, post-process in Photoshop using a Wacom Cintiq. Then put it all together with bubblegum (spearmint flavour), toothpicks, spackle, and cheeky hamsters to work the lifts. Hope you enjoy this release. :)

There is a volcano behind the mountains, shooting a pilar of fire upwards, causing ash and soot to create what is now kwown as, Darkshore. What you're not seeing in this 70mm view, is the full height of the "afterglow" far above the fortress' highest tower/peak. It is casting a glow on the water, and there is ambient light coming from the approx. the NE. All of my scenes are created with the effects using a horizon line, geospherical layered fractal clouds, a sun, and whatever volumetric light (ergo the volcano) behind the fortress. Hope that explains it a bit. :)
