Description
A shot of what is supposed to be the worlds longest pleasure pier (about 1.33 miles out to sea) --- Southend Pier, located in Essex, England.
This pier has had some nasty fires in its time. Recently in October 2005, it was severely damaged by a fire which destroyed a large part of the pier.
In June 1995, the Pier suffered another disaster when the bowling alley at the front of the pier was destroyed by fire. This photograph shows where the Bowling Alley once stood.

Lovely atmospheric shot! I hope that they can restore it. I'd really love to visit it someday.

Great shot - never seen the old pier looking so good ;) you have made good use of the inevitable high contrast situation in a capture of this pier better to capture a part of it than the whole which goes on forever.

Too bad it suffers fires, it's incredibly long indeed. Fantastic work! :)
