Description

~The Giant's Causeway~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is one side of the spectacular Basalt rock formation which joins Scotland & Northern Ireland. The fascinating pattern that we see in the causeway stones formed as a result of rock crystallization under conditions of accelerated cooling, this usually occurs when molten lava comes into immediate contact with water, as happens today in Hawaii, the resulting fast accelerated cooling process causes cracking and results in what we see today at the causeway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Its been a while since last upload because of health reasons.(I wont bore you!) I hope you like and as always comments welcomed and appreciated. Happy rendering! Marc All Bryce work except my logo done in Photoshop.

I've seen pictures of these before and always thought they had a neat surrealism about them. What a great idea to do them in Bryce! Very well done indeed!!

Wow that's a beautiful image. Thanks for the information to. I never knew of the Giant's Causeway before. There is a place in California called Devils Postpile that is also made of basalt posts. Devils Postpile is not as beautiful as the Giant's Causeway posts but they are also hexagonal basalt extrusions. Now I know of two basalt formations in the world. Very cool. Thank you.

I've seen this render before...I know, it's the Master Rochr. No doubt an inspiration to many of us. Anyway, it's still a cool picture. Just wish I had thought of doing it...Doh!
