Description

A Macro shot of the Eye of Caligo memnon Lepidoptera: Brassolidae Common Name Tawny Owl Butterfly, Memnon's Owl Range: Central America to Venezuela Shot taken with Canon EOS10D with Canon MP-E 65mm F2.8 Macro lens which can provide from 1-5 times life size my other Canon 100mm 2.8 can only manage up to 1x1 life size so it can be very interesting to see the Macro world this close up, however the depth of field is very shallow and focusing is a real challenge.. The Canon MR14-EX Ring flash was used at 1/60th @f4 at 400ISO I cropped the image due to the DOF to provide a better view of what was in focus which has taken away some of the compositional aspects Thanks for taking time to look and comment

i'm confused... is better canon mp-6 65mm than 100mm macro? mhm... i'll buy a macro objective in the next months and you make me doubt about the choice... btw... this is so incredible!!! congrats! for sure the focus settings aren't so easy!
