Description

This picture was shot from the top of one of the most accessible ski-peaks in the area. It is about a 20 minute drive from my home town, Molde, on the west-coast of Norway. You can drive right up to the foot of the mountain, and since it's not very high, it is ideal for sqeezing in a ski trip before work (if I work late, that is...) This is the outlook to the west. The group of mountains in front of me (which almost seems to be on an island in this picture) is straight north of Molde which in turn is situated along the fjord that disappears out the left side of the picture. From my house to the highest mountain in this group I use something like an hour (it's only about 600m high) so this area is even more accessible, but not high or steep enough to be considered good terrain for skiing. In the distance on the right are the last islands before the North Atlantic reigns supreme, and on the right is the start of a long chain of higher mountains which culminates in the high and very alpine peaks of Romsdalen.

Oh so you live in Molde huh? Im hoping to take a road-trip through norway later this spring, wonder what would be a great time to do so? Will late april be too soon, regarding winterroads and stuff?
