Description

I am focusing on political art this semseter starting with some master copies. This is a master copy of a German Expressionist, Kathe Kollwitz. It is one of the few pieces she actually painted. The original is called Workers at the Lehrter Station on Thier Way Home and can be seen here - http://www.mystudios.com/women/klmno/kollwitz-workers-1897.html I will have to warn you though, the color in this link is rather drab. It is alot more colorful in the book that I have... This is Acrylic on a 22x28 stretched canvas. Thanks for looking! Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated!

I don't need to compare, to see the likeness. The shading, especially on the guy on the far left, is very good! Love the lighting, and the plume of frosty breath? Great topic for study!

Well done. Political art seems like it would be a natural part of your art given your background. Not everyone has the heart and insight that you do, and would not be able to express the soul of the exploited and powerlessness experienced.
