Description

While walking along the lake I enjoy a visitor passing by on higher altitudes. It is a red kite, that is flying freely up there. Although, it is not that free since it is pursued by some crows. Incredible to see this large bird chased away by two smaller black birds! Time for me to use telelens and teleconverter which causes the picture to be a bit more fuzzy than usual. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm and 2 x teleconverter and cropped) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

It is always a matter of strategy. The big one is very self-confidence from past experiences, and hopes no opposition. His prejudice puts him at disadvantage when the smaller ones are defending their kids, so the hunter is the prey. Fortunately, you, sight-hunter, got this "beautiful prey" for us.

While you are free to roam the earth he rules the sky...too bad he can't get a picture of you on the ground to show his friends! Nice capture of this bird of prey! Aloha!

Crows must be tough customers when they're able to chase a big 'un like this one away! Marvelous capture in any case!

Incredible, a big bird and predator as this one, chased away by some crows ! I don't know exactly what sort of eagle it is, (or the same family) but it's a wonder to see him in fly in this way. Superb shot Jan-Carel, and he must be far from you. I dream about shots of flights as this one ! but it's not easy to be ready in the good second ;o)))) Don't worry about me... I became to feel better, just tired because it was very physical il Lapland, and then to came back sick and return to work immediatly... it's not so cool ! lol ! But I'll survive, promise !!!! Have a wonderful day my friend.

It's alwaya amazing to see how aggresive birds can be to other birds. My photos of birds of prey never come out except as squares of blue sky.

Trying to track a bird and stay in focus is a study in relativity. The depth of field may need some granularity as you try to estimate scale and wingspread to judge range.
