Okay...still plugin away on this...I think I will re-render the image with less illumination to bring out the glow of the blade and maybe change the camera angle...Lemme know what you think. Cheers

i'm all for artistic freedom, but some smartarse is going to say that it needs to be a green laser, haha. yeah, i think you're right that it needs darker surroundings. very cool -- lightwave is a program i've never been able to master. it doesn't like me. here's a random fact for you: in great britain, Jedi is now an official religion. that's right. 10,000+ people filled in that they were Jedis on their census forms. In fact, there are more people who said they were jedis than atheists!! this is true -- just goes to show you how much stock people put in the census!

  1. I chose the floor because I thought it offered some cool reflections and a departure from what anyone else would do...not to mention it's a hobby and something I did for fun. 2. The background isn't actually plain white...sorry it appears that way. The backdrop is a ctually an environment mapped sphere, but is washed out by ground fog. 3. The surfaces of the laser appear incomplete because I used I raytraced reflections and global illumination, and providing the other surfaces in the scene you can see where my reflections would not be as cool as they could be... 4. As for the laser...sorry its a funky camera angle...once a gain I was too busy playing (or trying to depart from norms) and simply doing the render for the personal satisfaction it brought me. Lastly, I didn't think render engines were capable of this level of detail in the 80's...still not sure where that remark came in, or if it's just a personal bias/opinion... Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed taking time out of your day just to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. How fullfilled you must feel...

I'm not quite sure what insetcoin is going on about! it's art, I do it for how I want it to look, not somebody else!!!! I think the angle which you have the sword set works well, gives a good feeling of depth. As you said, a slightly darker background would work better, but other than that, I'd be proud of this.

im offering advice it isnt my fault you guys like low quality images... i was helping you improve your image. if you dont like it then maybe you shouldnt be quick to type "...Lemme know what you think." I was referring to the tile image as being stuck in the 80's the tiles are in every way a retro looking tile it was a little joke but obviously you all think too high of your poor assed excuses for "ART" you cant just put a model in lightwave and render it poorly and then call it art because it came out the way you wanted it too... i know that every image that i get out of lightwave i am not happy with and always try to improve on it even if it means retouching in photoshop so i guess that maybe what seperates the real artists (the ones that accept criticism and try to improve) and the people that say there artists ("it came out the way i wanted it"...uhh that doesnt make it art.
