Description

While the cirrus clouds keep building up the circumstances improve to see more optical phenomenons. I have added an enhanced image (levels pushed in Photoshop) to show the elements more clearly. You can see a part of the parhelic circle (white horizontal line), a sun dog (less bright than yesterday's sun dog) and a part of the 22

Ciao Jan-Carel ! Superb this effect of Sun Dog ! Incredible how it's more visible with a black and white sky. I'm with Magali in St Laurent du Var for the week-end, and Daniel, his son. Then we are happy to stay together and it's a great week-end, with so much wind, and for the moment the sun is with us ;o))))) Have a nice sunny sunday too (always with snow ???) A very big Hug my friend

Looks like you're becoming a real meteorologist, Jan-Carel! Seeing those things is already marvelous, capturing them like you do just leaves me full of admiration. Can't help but thinking of a modern Da Vinci and his self-development through his art!!! ;-) Groetjes --Geert

Excellent image. I think I saw a Sundog the other morning up in the hills. It looked a lot like your photos, but more jagged and it was so bright my eyes started to water....(sleepy too!) Cool !

I will have to keep a look out more diligently for these naturally occurring phenomenon. Now armed with all this info, at least I will know what I'm looking at when I see one and why...thanks for the great shots and info! Aloha!

It must be pretty unusual to have all these phenomena appearing at once - or maybe I'm just not very observant..;) Great catch!
