Description

Photo taken Saturday 4th March 2005, Billinge, Blackburn, Lancashire, U.K. This Friday Blackburn got its first real snow of the winter, next day I went for a walk in Billinge Wood, and the farm lands beyond. I took a lot of photos, most rubbish, a few ok, I think this is probably the best. I did quite a bit of post work on this in PSP5, darkening the sky, lightening the foreground, and most of all trying to make the seam between the two less obvious. What do you think, did I succeed? Does it look too postworked? Constructive criticism welcome (please leave an address, so I can send hate mail if I disagree with your criticism).

I think you have made a super job of this as it is great and if you hadn't said I wouldn't have known any post work done.

Too much post work? No, not in this case when it is seamless. After all, we cannot capture more than we can imagine in the actual scene. This is the thought we carry with us. Very lovely image.

That guy hiding behind the tree is a nuisance. Doesn't he know he's blatantly obvious from the other side, and splendidly lit by the sun. There you are! Kick me! And when you've finished I'll still think the picture great. Oh yes, this seam thing is it a coal mining lure and below ground for I see it not?

Love it! The starkness of the image combined with the vibrancy of the sky and the brightness of the sun are perfectly in balance.
