Description

Sunday morning was windy, very windy higher up Beinn Ghlas. Sunday morning was cold. VERY cold higher up Beinn Ghlas. No Problem. I've got me layers on, two high tec wicking layers and a thick fleece. I've got me wintercoat...best of gear... Winter gloves on, gaiters crampons ice axe the lot. (Not to mention my Thermometer, Barometer and Altometer, my hydration system my camera and food...Oh and my Ipod blasting out Massive Attack.) I was first onto the top where blizzard conditions were threatening to white out. I touched the top, and about turned. About 20 min after leaving the top, I past two guys on their way up. I had to have a real double take at the second guy who waltzed past me, quite the thing, wait for it .....in a kilt. I did't ask him the obvious question but did look back to see if ....yes he had bare legs! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Brrrrr, Anthony. As they used to say " Cauld wi' the kilt, an' kilt wi' the cauld" , the second 'kilt' = 'killed', and 'cauld' = 'cold'. I am glad you keep warm up there on the mountains, and don't endanger the family jewels. ;o) Regards, John.

Makes ya feel a little over dressed for the conditions doesn't it....or is he just an idiot? Maybe he's just a rugged individulist that walks to the beat of his own Ipod. Either way, I would certainly go your route and dress to the "T", these conditions certainly call for the well prepared hiker as you are...Excellent work and story here Anthony! Aloha!
