Gotdang, that's a huge fluoroescent bumblebee! Aristotle, among others of the ancient Greeks, distinguiished between PHONE (pronounced "fonay" with a long "e" or eta at the end), which men and animals shared, and LOGOS, which animals were, for the most, not capable of. Songs, screams, cries, etc. qualify as PHONE (Wittgenstein discusses the phrase "I feel pain" in a similar context). "Signals" are more difficult, and whales and dolphins, as well as elephants and other animals, seem to communicate on a level more advanced than PHONE. Of course Aristotle was a Greek, and presumed that other human beings were similarly advanced--in fact a good deal of contemporary communication is very long on PHONE ("How you feel about French toast", "HMMMM. GOOD. I LOVE FRENCH TOAST!"), and very short on LOGOS.
