Hm, yes, well, Dutch driver's lessons should include lessons to drive in the mountains, same gear down as the gear ascending the mountain, with 18% you definitely need to drive in 2nd gear, and hitting the brakes only on brief moments to prevent them from heating. It can be dangerous, when the brakes start to 'skate' disallowing you to stop the car in time.... But the landscape is wonderful, a genuine joy to look out of the windows enjoying all that passes by! :)
